George Dalaras has been one of the prominent figures in Greek music for decades. He is a tireless performer driven by his love for Greek music which has thrilled audiences all over the world since the sixties.
Dalaras was born in Piraeus. At an early age, he was introduced to Greek music genres, such as rebetiko, the “Greek blues”, and Greek folk, before branching out into several contemporary styles, giving it all an instantly recognizable Latin American twist.
Since 1969 he has released countless records, exceeding 20 million albums sold worldwide. He has sold out concert halls, performed with some of the best orchestras in the world, and he has collaborated with artists such as Sting, Peter Gabriel, Bruce Springsteen, Goran Bregovic, Paco de Lucia and Al Di Meola. He has received several honors and awards for his humanitarian work as well, including the Kennedy Award for his humanitarian work and the UNHCR Goodwill Ambassadorship.
George Dalaras will visit Oslo with a live show, which includes selected classics from his enormous repertoire. His first appearance ever at Oslo World will be a career spanning evening, which will show the most important facets of one of the greatest living Mediterranean artists.
